South Afica is the largest economy in Africa, 13% of the continent's GDP. Your views on its political state doesn't change that. And honestly, as an American, I can't say my country is doing better than SA. Sure they have more crime, but at least they don't have a military force dedicated to ethnic-cleansing migrants . depends on what you call an alliance. obviously i wasn't alluding to a military alliance. these are economic forums, where economically allied countries get together to discuss policy. What is a better term that describes their relationship? frenemies? I would insist BRICS is certainly an economic alliance, their one common goal is to resist the western lead economic order of things, even if they can't agree on specifics they agree and are allied over that one goal.
