IKEA carts if you want to simulate driving over oil. Why are they made with all four wheels turning?


Because for some weird reason, IKEA doesn't cheap out on the trolleys. (As opposed to what's in them.)


Trolleys in the UK and most of Europe have all four wheels turning. Except for Costco which use the US-style ones.

I find it much more maneuverable, which is important in our smaller aisles. US-style ones would be a nightmare.

That being said, I think both Costco and Ikea should probably conform to local standards.


It's easier to maneuver, way easier to turn.


How do you guys do it? Without a fixed rear axis, it’s difficult to roll in a straight direction. You’re constantly fighting the pull of gravity. With American grocery carts, I can maneuver through a needle even in Costco, because it goes in the direction I point to.
