A nice compromise might be to make the information available to insurers and health care providers, by state law. Then e.g. the insurers (home, life, health) could work with license-holders or license-seekers to figure out what's necessary vs. what's based on contingency-fantasy-larp-stuff. With various premium differentials helping incentivize circumspect decisions.

If someone wants to skate the "life's deadly serious" line every day with live ammo while assuming there's this covert contract in which they get to believe the law forces the rest of us to trust them with human emotions and all that danger tucked away in a waistband--then hey go ahead and try that road, but the rest of our societal frameworks do not have to enable that specific behavior.

IMO it's only a matter of time before both drugs and firearms coexist on insurance & medical exam questionnaires. Especially as a point of fairness to everybody else working to keep things safe in more creative, productive ways, and also given the gun crimes happening every day in America. Growing up in a pro-gun family you get to watch the stakes continually being raised between "sides" which both have guns. It's a sadly thoughtless no-win and the logic is constantly thinned out by waves of subjective emotion.
