In my opinion many are moving to Substack and Gettr because they are tired of having to fit into a narrow margin of permitted speech. Having to measure ones speech against unknown formulas plus the known ideological opposing views imposes the risk of losing ones account, history and relationships on the platform. I believe this takes away the value of being on the platform at all. There will be some with fringe views but that is a price that comes with having less censorship. People can have open discussions and debates using their own critical thinking to decide for themselves their own beliefs and opinions align rather than a panel doing the thinking for them.
For what it's worth there is a brief video interview with a doctor that picks apart some of the things mentioned in the censored videos but even his video is at risk of being pulled from Youtube and the hosts acknowledge this. [1] I think it would be nice if we could hear open debates on all sides of all topics again some day.
I suspect that with time the newer platforms may be coerced into conformity and the game of musical chairs will continue.
I am an anti-vaxxer because I don't support mandates or passports. Never used substack. But I don't think all these people are crazy and it should not surprise anyone that they are looking for platforms that are more open.
