I remember reading this article a while back. It may be partially responsible for me starting my own game project in a custom engine. Also the last 10 years of my professional life have been spent wrangling Unity and Unreal, and, well, I just didn't want to do it anymore.
So I narrowed my game concept to be more stylized, no photorealism, no human characters, etc, in order to make something both unique, and deliverable.
Its inspiring to see others doing the same thing for similar reasons. Maybe I'm not completely crazy after all :)
Cavrnus, Inc | Full-stack and front-end engineers | Full Time | Remote (Team is located in San Diego and Los Angeles) | https://cavrn.us
Cavrn.us is building a platform and application to enable enterprise XR spatial collaboration for training, engineering, operations, planning, and selling. We ship an application written in Unity for a variety of desktop, mobile, and XR platforms, as well as a web app with a simpler 2d usability.
We're looking to expand our server and services development to support new feature development, improve and maintain operations and improve security.
We are also looking for a front-end engineer to improve the usability of our platform, and then update our applications to express our full platform in the browser.
We currently are using the MEVN stack but with mostly Typescript. Our Unity clients and tools use primarily C#, but also C++, Java, and Swift for native integrations.
We are a small team but growing, and recently raised our series A. Our product is in use at a dozen large companies with more on the horizon. We are productive and friendly. If you have experience in either or both of these roles and are interested, please contact me at nick@cavrn.us.
