QoL features is where WebStorm shines! I don't look forward to when I have to open vscode instead sometimes.

Just the floating and ephemeral "Search in files" modal in Jetbrain IDEs would convince me to switch from any other IDE.

my favorite is Ctrl+Shift+A which lets you search through all available UI actions (hence the A). That's just so helpful if you know the IDE can do something but you forgot where in the menu structure it was. And to top things off, you can also use Ctrl+Shift+A to look up the keyboard shortcuts for every possible action

I still debate how much productivity I've gained from better AI compared to the loss from switching off WebStorm

But their tab complete situation is abysmal, and Supermaven got macrophaged by Cursor

From twitter: the cost of cleaning up the oil spill is much larger than the damage repair on the ship which drives up insurance rates

I don't know why we don't build with concrete like the rest of the world ... that should give us a higher noise isolation than wood

A bit higher possibly, but from firsthand experience let me tell you it's not enough by far. Effective noise isolation does not magically arise from used materials, it has to be planned and included in the building project. And it makes the building more expensive.

Majority construction anywhere is whatever can be built with the least cost.

In the US and Canada timber framing for buildings under about 6 feet is least cost. Other places without a lot of timber availability tend to build with other things.

I'm pretty sure you meant something other than "buildings under about 6 feet".

I assume they meant “five-over-one”, five floors of stick built (framed with dimensional lumber, not timber) apartments on top of a concrete and steel first floor.

Timber framing is something else entirely, you can construct buildings taller than six stories with engineered wood products.

> The mid-rise buildings are normally constructed with four or five wood-frame stories above a concrete podium, usually for retail or resident amenity space.

I think they meant what they wrote, they just forgot some punctuation.

'timber framing (for buildings) under about 6 feet'

Concrete is more expensive to build with than wood, and many "apartment buildings" are built with a target towards "minimum possible build cost".

I'm very interested to see a behind the scenes of your tech - do you guys have a writeup somewhere? You HN tool is also promising!

As a reference for anyone interested - the cost is estimated to be $10 billion for EACH 500MW data center - this includes the cost of the chips and the data center infra.

With such price tag the power plant should be included.

A consequence of tools like Sora and Google Flow is that there will be an increase in amateurs creating professional quality content for comparatively cheap. So a thousand such shows (probably many more) isn't in the realm of the impossible!

so like, Amazon Prime?

Try the PayPal Debit card if you are in the US (and I think UK) .... you choose the category each month for a 5% cashback.

I don't think Amazon purchases fall into any of their available categories:
