The Oculus is actually pretty decent for the price and as a standalone device. The issue is the OS feels so... like it was built by a big company with a dysfunctional org chart?
It's still an unfocused mess.
The bigger issue is, VR will ALWAYS be a niche thing. Always on AR glasses are the real future bet, not a niche industry.
VR will never be as big as Facebook / Instagram / WhatsApp. It just doesn't make sense to invest so much into it. Not sure what Zuck doesn't see this?
IMO, VR could be huge, but it’s never going to happen when the platform is so locked down.
Meta could of been the hardware leader of a thriving ecosystem, but instead they tried to replicate the walled garden of app stores that are failing in 2026.
VR headsets are at least fun. These glasses though, seem really dumb. I doubt they will ever be ubiquitous. I certainly wouldn't be caught dead wearing a surveillance device made by Facebook of all companies.
My favorite part about the channels is specifically the music channels. I very much enjoy having a chance to re-listen to songs I’ve forgotten about or which aren’t in my daily rotation.
Similarly, there used to be this place called The Trees Network which essentially had a very similar “watching TV” feel, except it also had a community feature (live chat, content recommendations, etc). It was mostly meant for people getting stoned and wanting to “watch TV” together with other, but has since shut down (presumably because of copyright related issues or something)
Are you by chance planning to include any “community channels” or stuff like that by chance?
I love it, its now my homepage. Very relaxing.. I have one suggestion, if there was a way to stop the feed when I want to take a break, because if I pause the video, it starts again after a few moments.
You did a great job, and I hope you expand this project, also I love the 'your advertisment here'
Just curious, how are you curating it? Are you finding videos and adding them to the respective channels? or are you adding entire YT accounts to specific channels
You should make an app compatible with android tv devices, not necessarily on google play store, but github would be find. this would be an absolute hit on those devices. well done.
I'm glad I'm not the only one! I, too, have been emailing creators, randomly, to thank them for their work. Especially when I feature their work in my newsletter.
