I am the opposite. I do not understand how people do not get at least 5x more productive with GenAI.

Maybe it is because I do not do much front-end design. Maybe it is because I'm a bit more diligent than your average "viber", or maybe because for me it is easier to spot a suboptimal solution, or challange with edge cases from experience etc.

But these people turning their backs, not in principle, because that I fully understand, but because of underperformance?

Maybe their expectations are way out there? Maybe (most likely) it is the application domain? Maybe plainly a skill issue?

But seeing how GenAI is plowing through through fields, I would not turn my back on it even if it wasn't there (yet) in my domain.

I have used Microsoft operating systens for 30 years. I started moving servers onto Linux 5 years ago. The desktops on laptops stayed on Windows (10). I have started converting those ss well.

Windows had a good thing going (if you ignored some bad releases), but them pushing it too far with 11 and the Linux desktop making great strides, sort of put the nail in that coffin for me.

Not sure what they can do to make me reconsider. It's a trust issue now.

replace Satya Nadella?

he will just be replaced by Sandeep Dicksheet

Seems designed by people who definetly do not work from home with cats.

The cats demand to be on top of the desk, within attention reach at all times.

Pro tip: even big cats love to lay in the top cover of a printer paper box. You can adorn the outside, but keep the inside plain smooth cardboard as they are extremely fond of that feel.

I put a small blanket in an inverted printer paper lid. Instant hit.

The can was always at arms reach for scritches and cat debugging.

There's just no room on my desk. But I put a chair next to mine and sometimes she sits there to watch.

We have the 'official' stock (prediction) market regulated by the SEC, FINRA, CFTC, ... , yet (allegedly) insider trading isn't unheard of. We have the more recent crypto (prediction) markets with (allegedly) complete market manipulation where those same regulators stepped in after being woken up late to the party. Now we have these 'open range' prediction markets with the CFTC wrestling for getting a toe in without stepping on those of the casino, sports betting, Native American gaming, lotteries ... interests?

The "user" being the one that's in charge of the AI, not the person on the receiving end.

They could still eliminate relatively cheap hardware.

Is only Github supported as a repository?

My take is you are missing out on a barrage of "Shadow AI" and bespoke LoB and B2B software (By "Shadow AI" I mean the (unsanctioned) use of GenAI in Shadow IT, traditionally dominated by Excel and VBA).

All of the above are huge software markets outside of the typical Silicon Valley bubble.

One of the reasons why this keeps getting executed is that there is a latency between added capacity and induced demand. So you can 'solve' traffic temporary just around the next election.

I'm using Zoho (Indian company, hosted in Europe). Maybe not perfect from a geopolitical pov, but it will do for now.
